Innocence Lost
When was the last time you heard,
Someone whisper your name?;
With her bare hands laid
On your soul, wandering untamed.
When was the last time you heard,
Someone sing you a song?;
Less music and more words
Left you eager to belong.
When was the last time you sensed,
That forlorn togetherness?;
Born out of standing against
Creeds and beliefs, all deemed hopeless.
When was the last time you cried,
Without being aware that you are a man?;
For men are supposed to take pride
That they don’t have a heart, since time began.
Lately I’ve realized
That life is not worth living,
If you have already died
To the many greys and colours in the offering.
I’ve cried, I’ve fought, I’ve loved and I’ve belonged.
Stretching my conscience
To the alleys it never discovered.
But in the bargain, I lost my innocence.
