Cute.

Cute.

That elitist reaction

To anything vulnerable yet important

Cute.

That dumb wave of thought

Puked from the cosmetic conscience of a feline

Cute.

In many ways – a retarded sense of reality

Rarely rational

Yet completely amplified

Cute.

A comment, compliment,

Statement, insult

Cute.

Is not beautiful, is not positive

Is empty, is punitive

Cute.

An invention of the capitalists?

Or the lingual failures of erstwhile minimalists

Cute.

An abuse of selfless monotony

Unworthiness, without a boundary

Cute.

A postmodern slang?

Chica-bonita bang-bang

Cute.

Never, us

Never, me.

  1. I like your poem. You really taps into what I’m researching about the whole [mis]conceptualization of “cute”! I have a blog about the rhetorics of cuteness. I’d be interested in your thoughts.

  2. Thanks Ashanti. You are researching “cute”? Wow. I am certainly interested. But whenever I go to your blog it says “Sorry, but the page you requested cannot be found”.

  3. This is lovely 🙂 x
