grandma, gone.

Image

the steely maternal resolve

to do things, to make things happen;

the velvet pride and the simple faith

that travelled generations;

the sheer physicality of her being

that guided us;

all gone.

gone.

but she woke me up

and left a legacy

as she sleeps.

  1. Lovely poem…….when did she pass away?

  2. Love the lines. There was something about the women of that generation. I remember my grandmother’s steely resolve more than anything else.

  3. Agree Re. At least our generation is fortunate to learn from them. Those who were willing to learn and spend time with them.
